George Thomas and Ya On Fire - Getting Married Tonight

Rock & Roll is often used as a generic term, but its sound is rarely predictable. From the outset, when the early rockers merged country and blues, rock has been defined by its energy, rebellion and catchy hooks, but as the genre aged, it began to shed those very characteristics, placing equal emphasis on craftmanship and pushing the boundaries of the music. As a result, everything from Chuck Berry's pounding, three-chord rockers and the sweet harmonies of the Beatles to the jarring, atonal white noise of Sonic Youth has been categorized as "rock." That's accurate -- rock & roll had a specific sound and image for only a handful of years. For most of its life, rock has been fragmented, spinning off new styles and variations every few years, from Brill Building Pop and heavy metal to dance-pop and grunge. And that's only natural for a genre that began its life as a fusion of styles.

In an intimate setting with just his guitar performing for a small dinner crowd or a stadium setting with thousands, he makes everyone in the audience feel like he is singing just for them.

Brian has formed and performed in many successful bands over the past few decades. He has opened shows for recording artists Tammy Wynette and Steve Wariner as well as many acts from The Grande Ole Opry.

In December 2008, life brought Brian to St. Thomas! He has enjoyed performing both on and off season across the island. His original songs and cover tunes have been called eclectic and span many decades.

A Time to Recognize is a diverse collection of upbeat alternative rock songs that covers a wide range of styles and topics. There is a little something for everyone on this album.  From the driving, yet hummable post-punk rock of "Mehrunissa" and "She Casts the Spell", to the blend of soul and electronic of "Give", to the grand soundscapes of "Camden Town", "Marina del Rey" and "Jagat", to the politically topical songs "Rabin" and "Brushfire", this eclectic collection of pop songs is as interesting as any album available today.  It is often said that 'one can't be all things to all people', but Global Shakedown asks the question 'Why not?' Rather than limit itself, Global Shakedown seeks to embrace what music has to offer and simply have fun stretching the boundaries of what one can do in the world of pop music.
