Zāna

Born and raised in Oakland, California, Zāna gained early inspiration by playing her drum kit. Her love for instruments with vocal lessons led to a career in singing where she was featured in local Bay Area publications and festivals.

A current student at Berklee College of Music, up and coming singer-songwriter, Zāna's collaborations have been instrumental in the move to launch her solo career. Her debut self-titled recording with Grammy Award winning producers, Tim Mitchell and George Noriega features Into My Bed, Deeper and two remixes by RedSoul.

The four minute (4:15) opener Into My Bed features the 20-year-old expressing herself with her own gypsy-pop inspired lyrics, guitar and percussion. Track 2 - Deeper is about Love, connecting in a deeper way, through the soul. (4:02)

"A gifted songwriter with a sultry voice, Zāna’s unique style, which fuses Arabic and Latin influences to create what she labels as her ‘gypsy-pop’ sound is both upbeat and soulful".

Lachi

Did you know that scientific research has begun to chart research aimed at understanding gratitude and are finding that actively practicing gratitude has correlated to a stronger immune system, lower blood pressure, and lower potentiality of depression. I believe 'thanks giving' is similar to forgiving in that it's not for 'them.' It's for you. It's to grow you.

Speaking of giving thanks, I"m very grateful for the release of a new music video that was put together for a song I wrote called "It's Our Time" featuring Gary Nesta Pine (of Bob Marley's The Wailers), The video was filmed in Paris, New York, London and Boston and showcases the beauty of global collaboration despite the current hard times! Check out the video that caught hundreds of shares on Facebook for its timely, powerful message...on VEVO here!

I also received a note on twitter from a fan stating he loved my poem turned song, Such A Fool, that it was his favorite song, and lamented the fact there was no music video for it. To show my gratitude for his support, I through together a Selfie-style music video for the love of it!

I've had a lot of amazing blessing over the last two months with the successful publishing of my novel, The Ivory Staff,  the subsequent book and speaking tour,  the release of an amazing music video, and of course my health, and the constant support of amazing close friends and supporters.  I believe now is a wonderful time to be thankful for what we have, the ability to experience life the way we want, the ability to be given to and to give. Happy thanksgiving, stay safe, stay warm, stay blessed...

stay awesome!

Best,
Lachi

How to Create VST Plug-ins

How to Create VST Plug-ins

Bonus White Paper:  Here is all what you need to install VST plugins on your machine

http://www.hermannseib.com/documents/VSTHost.pdf

Read first!

VST plugins are not standalone softwares. They need a "host" in order to be managed and to communicate from one plugin to another.
The best known of VST hosts is  "Cubase" from Steinberg, but if you want to use a free one, you can download it from the list below:
MacPC
HostX from mmTurnerMaize Studio
AU Lab from AppleMini-Host from Toby Bear
Kil2 from Fredrik OlofssonSAVIHost from Hermann Seib
MultiVST Shell from Lone RogerVSTHost from Hermann Seib
OuroborosBidule from Plogue Art
Ugly VSTi interface from Refuse SoftwarePsycle from Psycledelics community
Bidule from Plogue ArtArguru from Arguru Softwares
To allow those VST hosts to work, your PC must have an ASIO driver. If it is not the case and you get a "No ASIO driver!" message, you must first download ASIO4ALL which should solve the problem.
About free VST hosts, we prefer  VSTHost from Hermann Seib which is very light and efficient.

Installing plug-ins

Maner can change from one host to another.
The first thing to do after the download is to expand (uncompress) the files.
  • If the file is in .zip format and you've got a PC, this will be very simple: simply press the right button of your mouse on the file. You'll get a menu with an "expand" function.
  • If the file is in  .rar, you must have an expander supporting this format. If you don't, you can download RarZilla which is free and perfect for that.
  • If the file is .exe, this is an auto-installer. Simply double-clic and it and follow instructions.
VST plugins are usually  .dll files

When the plugin is expanded, you must drop it into the VST dedicated folder of the host. When it's done, the plugin must appear into the "effects" or "VST" menu of the host.
  • For WaveLab : C:\Program Files\WaveLab\Plug-ins
  • For Cubase : C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins.
  • Mini-Host : anywhere is your plugin, choose "Load VST Plugin..." in the "VST" menu
  • VSTHost : anywhere is your plugin, choose "New Plugin" in the "File" menu
  • Audacity : C:\Program Files\Audacity\Plug-Ins
Audacity is not natively abble to run VST. You must first upgrade it:
    • Go to  http://audacityteam.org/vst, clic on VST-Enabler-0.1.3.zip and record the file (33 Ko) on your machine.
    • Double-clic on the file to see its content. Clic on VST Enabler.dll, and enter Ctrl + C.
    • With Windows, open the C:\Program Files\Audacity\Plug-Ins folder and enter Ctrl + V

Eileen Carey

MUSIC AWARDS, CONCERTS, AND A “PARTY AT THE BEACH”
Female Artist of the Year nominee Eileen Carey’s career continues to rise, as she plans performances at a benefits concert in L.A. and several County Fairs.
(LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A.) JUNE 25th, 2015 – After her recent CMA Fest appearances at Nashville’s Tootsies and Rippy’s,Eileen Careyyou wouldn’t think rising country-pop star Eileen Carey would have time to “Party at the Beach.” Then you realize that’s the title of her new upcoming single.
"Party at the Beach" is the follow-up to the current Top Ten charting tune, “Sweet Love.” In just the last six months, Carey has won multiple major music awards, wowed the critics, and was nominated as Female Country Artist of the Year by New Music Weekly.
“Sweet Love,” has recently entered the Top 10 on the New Music Weekly Country Charts.RoughStock.com’s Weekly New Release Reportsaid of the single, “It could very well be her best single released to date. The production is tight, and the lyrics, (written by Eileen Carey with Kathryn Grimm,) are sweet.”
Earlier this year, Carey’s “Bottle Your Crazy Up” went nationally to number one where it competed with major-label country performers. All three songs are off of her latest album, Let it Go, which is her most successful album to date. Eileen also won The Academia Music Awards Best Country/Rock Song of the Year for “Bottle Your Crazy Up.” Akadamia.com called Carey’s composition and performance, “A clever country jam … dulcet vocals to superb instrumentation, illustrating one of the most stringent performance standards we've encountered.”
There are numerous chances to see Eileen perform live this summer. The shows scheduled include a July 25th benefits concert at L.A.’s legendary The Autry, hosted by Morgan Fairchild. The event is calledWhiskers in the Moonlight, a charity concert to support FixNation, a local and highly-regarded non-profit. Their mission is to reduce the cat population through spay/neuter and Trap-Neuter-Return. “This event is very dear to my heart as my husband, and I have been involved in animal welfare for years,” explains Carey. Eileen will be joined onstage with Carl Verheyan and the Podunk Poets.
Eileen has upcoming performances also slated for The San Diego County Fair on July 1st, as well as the Orange County Fair on August 9th. Carey’s inimitable blend of California country is an exceptionally fun and family-friendly experience. So as Eileen would say, just “Let it Go” and “Bottle Your Crazy Up” – there’s a “Party at the Beach” and everyone’s invited.

Maggie Szabo

Szabo’s Latest Single Creates a Storm Surge
With Ryan Seacrest abuzz, Maggie Szabo’s latest release, “Tidal Waves and Hurricanes,” proves she’s becoming a musical force to be reckoned with.

“Maggie is unbreakable in ‘Tidal Waves and Hurricanes.’”
                                                     - Marc Inocencio | RyanSeacrest.com

(LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A.) February 1st, 2015 – It seems to be the in-thing lately for forecasters to name powerful storms, so perhaps “Maggie” should be the next name on their list? Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Maggie Szabo’s Maggie Szabo's "Tidal Waves and Hurricanes"latest single, “Tidal Waves and Hurricanes” is a potent song, infused with high-energy pop and soul. With critics such as Ryan Seacrest all abuzz, “Tidal Waves and Hurricanes” has created a virtual storm surge online. As Szabo’s track hits the airwaves, she is proving to be a musical force with which to reckon.
For Szabo, the empowering anthem, “Tidal Waves and Hurricanes” was inspired by the move from her rural Ontario, Canada hometown to Los Angeles. She elaborates, “When I came here, it was scary. I knew I just had to push through and be resilient.” After meeting fellow Canadian artist Andrew Allen in L.A., the pair instantly hit it off as cowriters and penned the track.
Combined with her strong, sultry vocals, “Tidal Waves and Hurricanes” is an explosion of hook-laden and soulful pop, all tightly wrapped in an uplifting message. As a Nashville-trained songwriter, Maggie’s focus is always on the storyline and lyrics. “I place emphasis on emotive stories, and my songs have elements of my personal life experiences,” offers Szabo. Labeled the “soulful songstress,” Maggie’s knack of utilizing real, organic instrumentation is readily apparent within the composition.
The official music video for “Tidal Waves and Hurricanes” was premiered by Ryan Seacrest and created a pre-release buzz among her fans. Combined with Szabo’s other online videos, she has already accumulated over 13 million views on YouTube and Vevo. Szabo is now making the move from an emerging “online wonder” to a real-world musical mover and shaker. Maggie, a Dundas, Ontario native, was proud to win “Best Pop” at the Toronto Independent Music Awards in 2014. Currently, she is planning an upcoming tour, and performing at renowned L.A.’s venues, including The Viper Room, House of Blues, and Hotel Café.
Produced by the rising L.A.-based producer Jon Callender, “Tidal Waves and Hurricanes” plays as an almost autobiographical montage of the musical quest Szabo has been on since the age of three. She has all the elements of “The Perfect Storm,” and on the path to becoming a superstar. So, if you hear of hurricanes and tidal waves in California, don’t panic – it’s probably Maggie Szabo’s latest single – making waves on the radio.

Madonna wants more older artists on the radio

Madonna has urged radio station bosses around the world to include more older artists on their playlists after reports suggested the pop superstar’s music was ditched from a U.K. network because of her age.
The singer’s latest songs were rumored to have been shunned by leading U.K. station BBC Radio 1, which is aimed at listeners aged between 15 and 29, but bosses at the corporation later spoke out to insist Madonna had not been banned because of her advancing years.
However, the “Holiday” hitmaker, 56, is adamant her age is a factor when radio station executives are deciding which records to play, and she is urging them to re-evaluate their playlist policies in the aftermath of the Radio 1 furore.
She tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “When I heard (the Radio 1 rumor), I was shocked. I was like, ‘Wait a second. Shouldn’t it be to do with whether you wrote a good, catchy pop song?’ I thought it was so discriminatory and unfair. We’ve made so many advances in other areas — civil rights, gay rights — but ageism is still an area that’s taboo and not talked about and not dealt with… (After the Radio 1 rumour) my manager said to me, ‘If you’re not in your 20s, it’s hard. You might get your record played in your 30s. There’s a handful of people who do – Pharrell (Williams) got lucky. But it you are in your fifties, forget it. I’m so stupid. I didn’t know it was anything to do with my age. I just do my work.”
