Black Mezzy is an upcoming artist from of Columbus, Ohio. 

Ten years ago Jamarr ( Black Mezzy ) Owens was sentenced to five years in prison for armed robbery, during that five-year bid Jamarr found his talent and passion for Hip Hop music. Sitting on the yard listening to other inmates rapping and showcasing their talent he told himself he could do that better than these guys. 

At that moment he decided to jump in the rap showcase in which he won. All the inmates encouraged him to continue to make music upon his release. Upon release, Jamarr hit the streets with the promise to himself to never go back to prison so he began seeking out local producers to record his music. At that time he discovered an audition for a local Reality television show ( The Come Up ) which he, in turn, auditioned for becoming the lead male role.
